Irán activa reclutamiento masivo ante posible incursión terrestre de EE. UU. — Iran activates mass recruitment ahead of a possible US ground incursion

On March 29, 2026, the Spanish-language Israeli site Noticias de Israel published Irán activa reclutamiento masivo ante posible incursión terrestre de EE. UU.. The page does not name a reporter. It says Iran opened a volunteer drive while the Iranian government paper Tehran Times described a plan to send about 5,000 American soldiers into Iran. An American family should care because that figure is a claim about their own soldiers on Iranian soil.

Background for a new reader. The United States and Israel began bombing Iran on 28 February 2026; Washington calls its part Operation Epic Fury. Through March the argument in Washington was whether to add ground troops, meaning American soldiers physically inside Iran, to what had been an air and sea war. Israeli outlets, writing in Hebrew, Russian, Spanish, French and English, followed that argument closely and often passed on American reports to their readers. This page is one of those reports.

Evidence rating: MODERATE. The rating covers the article's account of Iran's mass recruitment drive against a possible US ground incursion, and of the plan the Iranian government paper Tehran Times described: about 5,000 US soldiers landing at airports including Bandar Abbas. Western outlets, including the Washington Post, are described as reporting that the Pentagon was weighing limited ground operations.

What the article says

The page says that in the previous 24 hours the Iranian government started a volunteer drive called Janfada. It freely translates that name as sacrifice of lives. It says people in different parts of the country received text messages urging them to enlist against what the messages called American-Zionist threats. In that Iranian wording, Zionist means Israeli. The page also says residents reported unusual security, including masked regime forces setting up surprise checkpoints in Isfahan and nearby. It attributes the checkpoint reports to those residents.

It says Tehran Times published a long report on a supposed plan by Washington and Tel Aviv, code-named Operation Haman, to escalate the campaign against Iran. Tel Aviv is Israel's largest city. The page calls Tehran Times a voice of the regime.

De acuerdo con esa publicación, Estados Unidos se prepara para una invasión terrestre cuya primera fase contemplaría el ingreso de unos 5.000 soldados estadounidenses en territorio iraní.

Noticias de Israel, March 29, 2026, describing what it says Tehran Times wrote. In plain English, that sentence says the United States is preparing a ground invasion whose first phase would send about 5,000 American soldiers into Iranian territory.

The page says that paper claims the plan includes landing at and taking the main airports at Bandar Abbas, in the south, and at Kermanshah, Orumiyeh, and Tabriz, in the northwest. It says those forces would then move inland and strike underground missile sites of the Revolutionary Guard. The Revolutionary Guard is Iran's powerful military force, separate from the regular army. The page says the same report adds an extreme case in which Washington would carry out a limited tactical nuclear attack on strategic military sites. That nuclear line is the Iranian paper's scenario, as this site retells it.

The page then says Western media, including the Washington Post, report that the Pentagon is evaluating limited ground operations in Iran. It says thousands of US Marines and infantry had arrived in the Gulf area. Marines are US infantry that deploy from the sea. It says those reports stress special operations, not a full invasion like the US invasion of Iraq in 2003. Special operations means small units on specific missions, not an army of occupation.

It says Iran's parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, referred to those movements and said regime forces are waiting for American soldiers on the ground in order to set them on fire. The page is quoting his threat. It does not report that any landing had started.

Status: Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf is alive.

What other reporting and posts add

  • The recruitment drive, from the Wall Street Journal. A 30 March 2026 digest quoting the Journal: "Iran has launched a campaign, called "Janfada" or "Sacrificing Life," to recruit volunteers to fight American forces amid reports the U.S. may launch a ground operation against the Islamic republic, according to a text message sent to mobile subscribers in Iran." Digest. (capture: twitter/t49__v587.md)
  • Numbers nobody could check. Wikipedia's article on the campaign, as a later capture summarizes it, says organizers claim more than 31 million registrants and that critics "questioned the accuracy of these figures, citing a lack of independently verified data." (capture: twitter/t48__v565.md)
  • A "leaked plan" with Iranian airports, unverified. On 16 March 2026 an account posted a claimed leak of a US "preliminary decision project" naming arrival airfields at "Tabriz, Mashhad, Kerman, and Zahedan," with airborne infantry, Apache helicopters and HIMARS rocket launchers. Tabriz is also on the Tehran Times list above. The post showed no document, and the capture flags it as an allegation. Post. (capture: twitter/t49__v580.md)
  • What American officials were saying. A KETV item carried by another site says Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters the administration can meet its objectives "without putting American boots on the ground," and that a Reuters/Ipsos poll found 55 percent would not support deploying any troops inside Iran. 1st Sky Omaha / KETV. What it shows

An Israeli Spanish-language site reported both sides preparing for American soldiers in Iran: Iran recruiting en masse, and the Washington Post reporting Pentagon plans for limited ground operations. The White House was telling Americans the goals could be met from the air. See Pentagon Ground Plans 2026 and No Boots on the Ground.
