A Parent's Checklist for Walking Out of the Cave

You may be here because you have a son or daughter between 16 and 26, you heard the United States is bombing Iran, and someone told you not to worry. This checklist is for you. It gives you, in order, the documents to look at yourself. Each step has its own page with the documents, what they show, and where this investigation goes deeper. Plato said the climb out of the cave is steep and the light hurts at first (Republic 515e–516a). Take it one step at a time.

Before you start: where to look

Most of what reaches you about this war comes through two filters. One reader put it this way: "MOST AMERICANS ARE GETTING a war filtered twice – once by the government spinning it, once by an algorithm optimizing it for outrage" (Mark Pukita, 19 September 2026). Go to the documents: laws on congress.gov, testimony, official releases, and Israel's English-language press (Times of Israel, Haaretz, The Jerusalem Post, Ynet), which often reports what its own government says more bluntly than American outlets do.

The nine steps

StepThe questionWhat the record shows
1Is there a war?Yes: since 28 February 2026, undeclared, at least 19 Americans killed
2Was the reason true?No imminent threat and no bomb near, per the government's own intelligence; entered "at the request of" Israel, per its own lawyer
3Have we been here before?Yes: Iraq 2003, officially found "not supported by" the intelligence
4Is it part of an older plan?A post-9/11 list of seven countries ending with Iran; Greater Israel in Israeli officials' own words
5Could ground troops go?"On the table"; not ruled out; an Israeli column counts 750,000 to 1.5 million Americans
6Is my child on a draft list?Automatic registration from December 2026; a draft simulation being bought
7Am I seeing the whole clip?Official clips, fake quotes, and recycled footage shaped the picture
8What is kept off the wall? The diplomacy, Minab, the plan, and the fine print
9What will I do?Calls, votes, school boards, legislators, conscience; never violence

You are not alone

A retired Air Force veteran with 20 years of service wrote in April 2026: "I've had parents tell me that they don't want their kids serving in the military and they are the type who would vote for Trump" (@TikiRose). Parents did this before, and won: Parents Who Organized Before.

If you go back to "nothing is happening"

Many people read a checklist like this, feel the weight of it, and return to the wall. Plato expected it. One question keeps you honest: "What evidence would make you accept that this isn't true?" If the answer is nothing, "then the belief is no longer being tested. It's being protected" (@TheLinzerShow, as quoted by @truthcrimefan, 20 September 2026). See Back to the Wall.
