The Intelligence Chief Who Testified "Not Building a Weapon"

What she reported

In March 2025, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard told Congress the intelligence community "continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon" and that the Supreme Leader had not reauthorized the program he suspended in 2003. That was the written consensus of U.S. intelligence (TIME, June 2025). "Gabbard on 3/25/25 gave a public testimony and stated that Iran was not building a nuclear weapon," one reader summarized (@johnnealboyer, 23 September 2026).

How it was answered

As strikes neared in June 2025, the President: "I don't care what she said. I think they were very close to having one" (17 June), and "She's wrong" (21 June). Gabbard then said her words were taken "out of context" (same TIME source). In March 2026 her written testimony again said Iran had made "no efforts" to rebuild enrichment, and she skipped that passage aloud (The DNI's Unread Paragraph). By July 2026 one political organizer wrote that she had resigned (CPI); that is his statement.

Why she belongs in the cave

Plato's returning prisoner reports what he saw and is told he is wrong. The written record Gabbard filed kept saying what the public line would not. The public was shown the rebuke, not the assessment.
