Israeli Casualties: 28 Dead, Thousands Wounded
Evidence rating: CONFIRMED. The Times of Israel published each victim's name and story.
Iran's missiles killed Israeli civilians. This page records them plainly. Israel's government started this war, and ordinary Israelis paid for it too.
The count
- 28 people killed by Iranian missiles over the twelve days, "all but one of them civilians," with 3,238 hospitalized and more than 9,000 displaced (Times of Israel, June 24, 2025; the 28 victims).
- Citing Israel's Health Ministry, Maariv reported about 3,345 people treated and "more than 41,550 compensation claims," 32,975 for structural damage (as reported by Palestine Chronicle).
- Israel issued about 21,000 alerts; one summary counted about 10,000 displaced and 138 acute psychological cases (easy-to-read.eu).
The deadliest strikes
- Bat Yam, June 15. Nine killed in an apartment building, including three children (Times of Israel).
- Tamra, June 14–15. Four women of one Arab-Israeli family, the Abu al-Hija family, killed at home (Times of Israel liveblog; Geneva Council).
- Soroka Medical Center, Beersheba, June 19. The surgical wing was hit; it had been evacuated the day before. Iran said it was targeting a "military and intelligence centre" near the hospital (research captures). The hospital later received more than one billion shekels to rebuild (Times of Israel).
- Beersheba, June 24. Minutes before the ceasefire, four killed inside safe rooms that took a direct hit (Times of Israel).
- A Filipina caregiver hit on June 15 later died, the Philippine Embassy said (DZBB).
Iranian cluster munitions
Amnesty International said Iran's "use of cluster munitions during the '12 Day War' with Israel was a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law," firing missiles with submunitions into populated areas (as quoted in a Wikipedia mirror; see also @Adi13). Human Rights Watch called some Iranian strikes likely war crimes (research captures). No court has ruled.
Two scales, one war
| Israel | Iran | |
|---|---|---|
| Killed | 28 | about 1,190 (HRANA) |
| Of whom civilians | 27 | at least 436 |
See Iran's Death Toll.
Why it matters to Americans
Israeli families sheltered while their government's war went on. American interceptors, about 150 THAADs, were a large part of what kept the Israeli toll at 28. See American Interceptors for Israel. The protection was paid for from American stockpiles, in a war Israel's leaders chose to start.
