What this video shows

Mark Levin hosts Life, Liberty & Levin on Fox News and a nationally syndicated talk radio show. This 42-second Fox News clip was posted on August 17, 2026 by C14 News, an Israeli English-language news outlet, under the line: "Mark Levin: 'The Iranian regime is not going to surrender.'" A few hours later it was re-posted by @MrLukeGeorge with his own comment, "freeing Iran will require ground troops!"

Levin is explaining why, in his view, the war with Iran is so hard to end. In the machine transcript he says: "First, the Iranian regime is not going to surrender. It is never going to surrender." He then compares Iran to Imperial Japan in World War II, a country that did not give up until "we had to drop 2 atomic bombs," adds "Obviously we're not going to do that now," and closes with: "But I'm talking about an enemy that is dug in."

In this short clip Levin does not use the words "ground troops" or "boots on the ground"; that phrase comes from the re-poster. What the clip does show is the case being built: an enemy that will never surrender, that bombing alone did not break, and that is "dug in." If an enemy cannot be bombed into surrender and nuclear weapons are ruled out, the option left is the one Levin argues for openly at the CUFI summit, where he tells the crowd that "no boots on the ground" talk only motivates America's enemies (see Mark Levin at CUFI).

Where this fits: this clip is one of the TV clips calling for American boots on the ground in Iran. For the full story, what the public was told next to what was happening, see American Soldiers on the Ground in Iran — Videos.

Why is it so difficult? First, the Iranian regime is not going to surrender. It is never going to surrender. You know, we've been in wars before, but we fought enemies that wouldn't surrender either.

Remember the kamikazes? Remember Japan? Remember the emperor was like a demigod, to the people back then, Tojo, was very stubborn, very headstrong. And unfortunately, we had to drop 2 atomic bombs until they would surrender.

Obviously we're not going to do that now. But I'm talking about an enemy that is dug in.
