Greene's Break With the War Party, 2025 to 2026
Before 2025, Marjorie Taylor Greene was known as one of the President's most loyal defenders in Congress. She says she had a 98 percent voting record with him and paid more than $350,000 in party dues every Congress. What changed was the war. This page traces, in her own words, how she broke with the President and the pro-Israel wing of her party over four issues: the Iran war, Gaza, the Epstein files, and the draft.
The Iran war: "a complete bait and switch"
Israel attacked Iran on June 13, 2025. On June 17 Greene wrote that "RINOs, Neocons, and Never Trumpers" were funding a primary challenger against her because "I won't send your kids to die in another foreign war" (Greene on X, June 17, 2025). On June 20 she noted that Americans could "watch the Israel Iran war on tv everyday but you could never see the Ukraine Russia war on tv" (Greene on X, June 20, 2025).
The day after the U.S. strikes, June 23, 2025:
"Only 6 months in and we are back into foreign wars, regime change, and world war 3. It feels like a complete bait and switch to please the neocons, warmongers, military industrial complex contracts, and neocon tv personalities..."
"My children are 22, 25, and 27. I will literally fight ANYONE for their future. And their future and their entire generation's future MUST be free of America LAST foreign wars that provoke terrorists attacks on our homeland, military drafts, and NUCLEAR WAR."
(Greene on X, June 23, 2025). To Mark Levin, the pro-war radio host: "No, I didn't sleep better after neo-cons and war mongers talked this administration into entering a hot war that Israel started" (Real America's Voice clip). Iranian commentator Akbar Ganji, cataloging the split inside the President's movement, recorded her line: "Anyone who wants to fully involve America in the Israel-Iran war is not America First/MAGA" (Ganji on X, December 27, 2025).
Gaza: the first Republican to say "genocide"
On July 29, 2025, Greene became the first Republican in Congress to call Israel's operations in Gaza a "genocide." When she repeated it days later, AIPAC condemned her. A hostile columnist recorded the sequence: "She doubled down days later, earning condemnation from AIPAC. This Zionist group not only has generally good relations with the Trump administration, but it bankrolls key Republican congresspersons and senators facing tight races. In September, she reiterated the charge in an interview with the New York Times, admitting it strained her relationship with Trump." (Joseph Ford Cotto on X, October 12, 2025). The newsletter Tangle listed the Gaza "genocide" remark among her breaks with the President, along with her votes on the Epstein files (Tangle summary via Facebook reel).
The Epstein files: "his friends would get hurt"
Greene was one of four House Republicans who joined Democrats to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files; the measure passed both chambers. She says the President called her from the White House to get her to remove her name:
"Marjorie, you're going to have to take your name off that discharge petition... This is a hoax. It's a Democrat hoax and we've got to just put this away and stop doing this."
And: "He said his friends would get hurt if we released the Epstein files." (Latin Times, May 6, 2026). She says that is when she "got my name on the naughty list," and "That became a real issue at the White House." She later alleged that the 43-day government shutdown of fall 2025 was designed to block the House vote on the files (X news summary, May 6, 2026). See the Epstein files and the February timing.
The draft: "Not my son, over my dead body"
In March 2026, early in the second war, the White House would not rule out a draft. Greene: "Not my son, over my dead body." (The Independent, via X). That line connects her fight directly to what this investigation warns about: the machinery being built to compel young Americans to serve (see the forced draft law).
Section 224: "Our government is being captured"
In June 2026, after the Pentagon raised Israel to its top counterintelligence threat level the same week AIPAC backed a provision to integrate the two militaries, Greene wrote:
"The Pentagon raised threat of Israeli spying on the U.S. to the highest level and AIPAC is openly cheering Republicans for section 224 in the NDAA that merges our military with Israel's military. Our government is being captured."
(Newsweek, June 9, 2026). See Section 219.
Nuclear weapons: "I'm not speculating, I know"
In August 2026 Greene said White House strategy meetings on Iran had discussed nuclear weapons, citing sources she would not name:
"They are discussing using nuclear weapons on Iran in strategy meetings (…) I'm not speculating, I know. And it's pure evil."
"Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Fine. No argument. But I demand America not use nuclear weapons. The President and his Secretary of 'war' must address this issue and promise the American people they won't do it. Never again. Remember?"
(as quoted in an InfoBRICS column posted by @_Lupusvir19 on X, August 18, 2026). The column's own conclusion that "Trump's insistence on supporting Israel led her to resign" is the writer's interpretation, not her quote.
Why the break mattered
Greene was not a marginal figure. She had one of the largest followings of any member of Congress and spoke for the voters who elected the President on a promise of no new wars. Her break showed that opposition to the Iran war was not a left-wing position but a core America First one. It also made her the most prominent Republican standing in the way of the three things this investigation traces to one network: the war on Iran, unconditional support for Israel's wars, and the burial of the Epstein files. What happened to her next is on the threats page.
