Overview​

This thesis synthesizes multiple data points from UAP disclosure witnesses, consciousness research, NDE studies, and insider whistleblower accounts into a single framework that attempts to answer the question: Why does the U.S. government keep the UFO/consciousness subject so deeply classified that even presidents are denied full access?

The standard answers — advanced propulsion, weapons applications, energy technology — are necessary but insufficient. Bryan Starbuck's thesis argues that the deeper reason is what the government has learned about the fate of human consciousness after death, and specifically about hostile non-human entities that interact with human souls. This knowledge is so disturbing that multiple high-ranking officials — reportedly including President Jimmy Carter and Secretary of Energy John S. Herrington — broke down emotionally upon being briefed.

The thesis identifies six interlocking categories of classified knowledge, each of which reinforces the others, creating a secrecy structure where disclosing any one category risks unraveling all six.

Pillar 1: Consciousness Is Bound to the Body Until Death​

After Disclosure by Richard Dolan and Bryce Zabel, and corroborated by screenwriter Brent Friedman, Herrington was debriefed for approximately six to eight weeks at an underground facility outside Washington. He reportedly told Friedman: "There is intelligent life in the universe. It's here. And I've seen it." Herrington said the briefings caused him to cry himself to sleep every night. When asked why, he said it was because of his daughters — because "this is the kind of world" they would inherit.

The Reagan-era non-disclosure decision — During the Reagan administration, when George H.W. Bush was a former CIA Director, officials reportedly assessed whether to disclose the UFO reality to the public and concluded the information was too damaging to release.

The thesis asks: What could be so disturbing that it changes a person's fundamental outlook from happy to permanently sad? The answer, Starbuck argues, lies in what happens to human souls.

Pillar 3: External Entities Exist — Good, Bad, and Indifferent​

At the most basic level, the thesis asserts that non-human intelligences exist and fall into three categories:

  1. Benevolent — entities that help or guide human consciousness
  2. Malevolent — entities that exploit, harvest, or manipulate human consciousness
  3. Indifferent — entities with their own agendas that do not specifically care about human welfare

The focus of the thesis is on the malevolent category, because this is what the evidence suggests officials found most disturbing.

Pillar 4: Humans Are "Containers for Souls" — Earth as a Soul Farm​

Bob Lazar, who claimed to have worked on reverse-engineering alien technology at S-4 near Area 51, reported reading briefing documents that described humans as "containers" from the extraterrestrial perspective. Journalist George Knapp has discussed this claim multiple times, noting that Lazar encountered this description in documents provided during his alleged briefing, not from direct alien contact.

This aligns directly with Robert Monroe's "loosh" framework from Far Journeys (1985). Monroe described Earth as analogous to a garden cultivated to produce emotional energy — "loosh" — which is harvested by non-physical entities. In Monroe's account, human life experiences (especially intense emotions: love, fear, suffering, joy, grief) grow and develop the soul, and this energy has value to beings operating outside our physical dimension.

The synthesis: Earth is a farm that grows souls. Human bodies are the containers. Life experiences are the cultivation process. The question the thesis raises is: Who or what harvests the product?

Pillar 5: Soul Switching and "Selling Your Soul"​

The thesis documents a pattern in insider accounts of what is colloquially called "selling your soul to the devil":

  • An individual achieves extraordinary career success for a number of years
  • Family members and close associates report that the person fundamentally changes — "not the same person anymore"

Pillar 7: Secretary Herrington's "Purpose X"​

The thesis identifies the emotional core of the secrecy: Herrington's statement that he "did not bring his daughters into this world for this purpose."

Starbuck defines this unnamed purpose as "Purpose X" — the thing Herrington found so devastating he could not accept it as the fate awaiting his children. The thesis proposes two candidates for Purpose X:

  1. Soul harvesting at death — Hostile entities consume, extract utility from, or otherwise exploit human souls when the body dies. If true, every human death feeds something predatory. Herrington would not want this for his daughters.

  2. Soul displacement during life — Bad actors (non-human entities) can swap a hostile soul into a living person's body, removing the original consciousness. If this is possible even rarely, it means no one's identity is permanently safe.

Either interpretation explains why Carter cried, why Herrington cried for weeks, and why the Reagan administration decided not to disclose.

Pillar 8: The Programmers and the World Operating System​

The thesis proposes that reality operates like a managed system — with programmers and a world operating system. This is not a metaphor. The entities behind reality actively maintain and intervene in its operation.

Multiple timelines exist. Reality is not a single linear path but a branching structure of possible timelines. The programmers work to prevent the main universe — the primary timeline — from failing. "Failing" means catastrophic destruction that would collapse or corrupt that timeline's viability.

Orbs and lights are programmer intervention. When orbs or anomalous lights appear — especially near nuclear facilities and weapons sites — they are indicators that the programmers are paying attention. Nuclear power plants at risk of meltdown, nuclear weapons that could cause massive destruction — these are the scenarios that draw active programmer involvement. The pattern is consistent: UAP activity concentrates around nuclear assets (Malmstrom AFB 1967, Rendlesham Forest 1980, Fukushima reports, multiple ICBM site incursions documented by Robert Salas and others). The thesis interprets this not as alien curiosity but as timeline maintenance — the programmers working to ensure the current timeline does not experience an extinction-level or civilization-ending nuclear event.

The machine elves are the programmers. Philip K. Dick's concept of "programmers" behind reality, Terence McKenna's "machine elves" encountered during DMT experiences, and the entities encountered in the Gateway Process at higher Focus Levels — the thesis treats these as the same beings observed through different access methods. Dick accessed them through his 2-3-74 mystical experience and called them VALIS. McKenna accessed them through DMT and called them self-transforming machine elves. Monroe accessed them through Hemi-Sync OBEs and encountered guides and overseers at Focus 27+. The thesis assumes these entity encounters are real — not hallucinations, not archetypes — and that the beings encountered are the operators or maintainers of the reality system.

We do not know their alignment. The thesis does not claim the machine elves / programmers are benevolent or malevolent. They maintain the system; they prevent catastrophic timeline failures. Whether they do this for humanity's benefit, for their own purposes, or for reasons entirely outside human moral frameworks is unknown. This is a critical open question. Tom Campbell's framework suggests the system is designed for consciousness evolution (benevolent). Monroe's early loosh framework suggests possible exploitation. The machine elves' actual intent remains undetermined.

Open Variables: Tracked Hypothesis Spaces​

The thesis tracks two fundamental forces as open variables — conceptual spaces that may ultimately prove empty or full. The purpose is not to declare them proven but to maintain them as active research containers: collecting evidence that shapes what they could be, what they won't be, and whether we have enough to declare concrete existence or absence.

These variables are tracked separately from the Pillars because they represent the motivational layer — why entities act the way they do, why elites engage in the practices they do, and what the actual mechanics of benefit and harm look like across dimensions.

Variable A: The Benevolent Overseer​

Hypothesis: A powerful entity (or class of entities) exists in another dimension whose purpose is to make positive things happen in our reality. This entity is the source of the orbs observed near nuclear facilities and weapons sites. It actively intervenes to prevent nuclear disasters, weapons detonations, and timeline-ending catastrophes.

Hypothesis: When elite actors engage in extreme evil — killing children, torture, consumption of human flesh, ritualistic abuse, adrenochrome extraction — they are receiving a tangible benefit in return. This is not merely psychopathy or sadism. They do it because something measurable (in their framework) comes back to them. The Epstein network provides circumstantial proof of this transaction pattern.

Tracking These Variables​

Both variables are maintained as living research spaces. Evidence is added as discovered. The goal is to progressively narrow each variable toward one of three outcomes:

  1. Confirmed — Enough evidence exists to declare this real, with a working model of mechanism
  2. Shaped — Evidence constrains what this could be (ruling things out, narrowing possibilities) even if full confirmation is not yet possible
  3. Empty — Evidence actively disproves the hypothesis, and the variable is archived as investigated-and-closed

Neither variable is currently empty. Both have enough signal to remain active. The task is to keep collecting evidence and keep shaping the boundaries.

The Six Categories of Classified Knowledge​

The thesis argues that the government maintains secrecy across six interlocking domains, each reinforcing the others:
